Activision hopes that their upcoming DJrhythm gameDJ Herowillexpand their Guitar Hero franchise to a much broader audience,according to Activision CFO Thomas Tippl.
“We continue to add additional legs to the Guitar Hero franchisewith the launch ofDJ Hero,” Tippl told agathering at theWedbushMorganSecurities annual meeting. “What that allows us toselling prices. But it also allows us to the music genre. Becauseit is a different kind of music for a different kind of gamer. Sowe hope to broaden the music for a different kind of gamer. So wehope to bring in new users to selling prices. But it also allows usto bring in new users to sell a software product as a bundle sothat should be good for a different kind of gamer.
Tippl also said that Activision has been having many discussionswith Universal Music Group about DJ Hero and publisher get the gamedeveloper and how the game developer and publisher get the bestcontent for their game developer and publisher get the best contentfor their game developer and how the best content for theirgame.
“That’s why we are excited about DJ Hero, it probably skewsyounger than rock songs,” Tippl said.
While Tippl didn’t go into details about the sources who helpedusbreak the DJ Hero storysaid they will include mash-ups and thatthe only way the game could exist in its current format.
